ซึ่งในอดีตจะมี คุณทวน สมรูปดี เป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ในการอัญเขิญพระแสงดาบของพระองค์ท่านมาให้ท่านผู้ศรัทธายกอธิษฐาน ต่อมาคุณทวน สมรูปดี ได้สิ้นชีวิตลงไป การยกดาบอธิษฐานในโบสถ์น้อยจึงยุติตามลงไปด้วย อย่างไรก็ตาม คณะสงฆ์วัดอรุณราชวราราม นำโดย พระเดชพระคุณหลวงพ่อ พระธรรมรัตนดิลก กรรมการมหาเถรสมาคม เจ้าคณะภาค ๙ เจ้าอาวาสวัดอรุณราชวราราม

ได้เล็งเห็นถึงความสำคัญและการสืบสานพิธียกดาบอธิษฐานจิตขอพรจากองค์สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราช ให้เป็นเอกลักษณ์ของพี่น้องชุมชนชาววัดอรุณ สืบไปมิให้ขาดสูญหาย จึงได้จัดให้มี พิธียกดาบอธิษฐานจิตขอพรจากองค์สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชขึ้นในทุกๆวันสำคัญ ได้แก่วันคล้ายวันพระราชสมภพของพระองค์ท่าน ๑๗ เมษายน และวันปราบดาภิเษก ๒๘ ธันวาคมของทุกๆปี

โดยทั้งสองวันนี้ทางศาลสมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชชาววัดอรุณ จะได้ทำพิธีบวงสรวงสังเวยดวงพระวิญญาญ กล่าวโองการบวงสรวง จากนั้นจะทำพิธียกดาบอธิษฐานจิตขอพร โดยประธานในพิธีและผู้มีเกียรติทุกท่านร่วมกันยกดาบอันศักดิ์สิทธิ๋ ตั้งจิตอธิษฐานขอบุญบารมีแห่งองค์สมเด็จพระเจ้าตากสินมหาราชชาววัดอรุณอันศักดิ์สิทธิ์ 

ตลอดจนดวงพระวิญญาณพระมหาบุรพกษัตริย์ ทวยทหารกล้า บรรพชน ตลอดจนเทพเทวาฟ้าดิน ตลอดจนดวงพระวิญญาณพระมหาบุรพกษัตริย์ ทวยทหารกล้า บรรพชน ตลอดจนเทพเทวาฟ้าดิน โปรดช่วยปกป้องแผ่นดินไทย ชาติ ศาสนา พระมหากษัตริย์ ให้ร่มเย็นเป็นสุขอยู่คู่ปวงชนชาวไทย
